Who was Karl Jaspers?
Karl Jaspers trained and worked as a psychiatrist before turning to philosophy. His General Psychopathology (1913) shaped later diagnostic criteria and drew a distinction between primary and secondary delusions.
In philosophy he tried to build a new system of his own. He is often counted as a leading German existentialist, though he rejected the label, and his work influenced theology, psychiatry and philosophy.
